Blow Your Trumpet, Gabriel

In memoriam: India, that is Bharat

Blow your trumpet, Gabriel, the end has come;
The Ganges now weeps, and the air is glum.

The Himalayas hang their mighty heads in shame
While our king looks for those to pass the blame.

The Vindhyas divide us, but tell half our story;
The Bay creeps along, bereft of its glory.

Death has triumphed, the tears now flow
Past the Musi while the nobles come and go

Taxed of their hearts, and devoid of their souls.
Our kingdom has fallen, we’ve sunk into holes.

We see waves on which no man has ever swum.
Blow your trumpet, Gabriel, your time has come.
