A THOUSAND EMOTIONS

Shadows engulf me in this palette of emotions
Running over my crab-like existence
Till the very end
Till I am spent

No pent-up rage can define what this means to me
No flowers, nor declarations in tomorrow’s paper
Uninspiring hope
Building a tightrope

When you wake up to a thousand emotions
Lying empty next to a river full of expectation
Watch me love the pain
There’s no one to blame

And one summer morning, I’ll take the kids to school
Watching them unlearn every bit of rational thought
I’ll tell them of love’s holocaust
And all the bits of me I’ve lost.
