LET HER DOWN EASY

She’s not just some worried daddy’s girl
Whom you once loved and then lost,
She thinks that she knows the world
But as she found out to her cost
You weren’t what your innocent smile made you to be
It was a line that day she crossed.

Let her down easy,

Her heart is on the line
Let her down easy,
Hope she’ll finally see the sign.

She was just sixteen back then,

Her lips tremble as she remembers the few
Days that you made her feel alive,
But then you left her for someone new.
She cried for days hoping you’d come back
It was years before she finally knew

That you let her down easy,

Her heart was on the line
Let her down easy,
As long as the sun still shines.

Her crystal-blue eyes and her starstruck lips

Still get moist as she remembers those days,
Although she’s a woman now with a daughter of her own
She’s still susceptible to your Casanova ways
She’ll still fall for your guiltless charm and your smile,
Failing to understand that she’s now lost in a maze.

So you let her down easy,

Her heart is on the line
As you let her down easy,
Do you even know if she’s doing fine?

Preventing her daughter from making the same mistakes,

She’ll try to protect her from men like you.
And no, she will never completely forget you,
The first boy that she gave herself to.
She cries as she remembers the day you didn’t say goodbye,
As you were leaving town with someone new.

Now that you let her down easy,

Her heart is always on the line
Let her down easy,
Maybe she’ll grow up over time.
