EPISODE 2: The ambience and low lighting at Minerva Coffee House, Kompally should have been enough to sway my mind in favour of the delectable fare it had on offer. However, I was there for the sole purpose of tasting their masala dosa, and was not left disappointed.
The size of the dosa was bigger than what one experiences in most eateries in the city, and this, to me, was important. It smelled of ghee (clarified butter), lathered rather lavishly both on top of the crust and inside the potato filling.

The texture of the dosa was about three-fourths thick and one-fourth delicate, but it did not disappoint me in the least. Where the dosa lost out was on its crispness. It was evident that the serving staff had let the dosa wait a bit after it came out of the pan, and this resulted in it turning out to be rather soggy, especially at the edges, where it was not expected to be so.
The semi-mashed potato and peas filling was a heart-winner. Although a tad rich in texture, it had everything that would delight a dosa aficionado. In the end, the taste wasn’t as off-putting as the dosa’s soggy nature might have otherwise turned it into. We had vada and coffee after the dosa, and the all-round experience was pleasing.
The Minerva Coffee House, Kompally is located here.
