Taaza Kitchen in Madhapur offers a handsome recourse to the standard Telangana and Andhra versions of South Indian fare that one gets commonly in Hyderabad. In a manner of speaking, it makes for an excellent change in one’s palate. Promising to offer Karnataka-style fare, quite similar to its counterpart Swach (located not a ways off on the Hitec City road), Taaza delivers. It is extremely easy on the pocket as well.

The masala dosa that I had here was rather miserly in its portion size, as was the kesari bhath that I chose to cap my meal off with. This does not, however, take anything away from the quality that the dishes on offer had. The idlis, another speciality on the menu, were softer than balls of cotton and tasted heavenly after being dunked generously in the coconut-mint chutney that goes with almost everything on their menu.

The chow-chow bhath, which is a one-plate meal of the khara bhath and kesari bhath, was delectable. Offerings of ghee were constant in everything, and this was rather novel for me. This was the first time that I tasted the chow-chow bhath in Hyderabad, and was pleased to note that it reminded me of what I have often experienced in my travels across Karnataka.

Taaza’s exteriors, in many ways, are pleasing to the eye. The numerous bamboo plants that are spread across its courtyard offer shade from the blistering sun. The seating arrangements, admittedly, are few and far between, but the standing options more than make up for them. A parking area located exactly opposite the restaurant’s gates makes it a big draw. Taaza, therefore, gets favourable deliberations when compared to its competitors serving a similar fare in the area.
