NOT JUST ANOTHER WAR SONG

When opportunity presents itself and hope knocks,
Experience cancels itself and timidity clocks
Make sure you’re not shying away to be seen
Near the eye of the storm, perhaps in between
The tug and pull of despair is now very close
And make sure every detail your heart knows.

When things turn out the way you never thought them to be
Holding on to hope and having courage is the key
There will never be a day when fear doesn’t visit
I hope you realise now that you will never miss it
What’s life without the threat of running under?
Or being blown over by the ferocious rumbling thunder.

Not a day will go by when you don’t curse your fate
And berate it for this endless, tiresome wait
Take things into your hand and start running fast
Clutch the good things when they come, till they last
There will never be a way out of this ceaseless strife
Men won’t stop being cruel to each other in this life.

Why do you blame destiny when things go out of hand?
Where’s that voice which asked you to be the best in the land?
Stop at nothing before those boundaries you break
Along with these walls and everything that comes in its wake
As you don’t have the luxury to take your eyes off the ball
You don’t need reminding that it’s you against them all.
