RENDEZVOUS

The Road Home

Entwined by an emblazoned fire within our hearts
sitting dangerously close to the banks of the river
where our feelings have been washed ashore
along with the blood that marred this tiny indiscretion

But I still check myself before I utter those precious
three little words- words that brought disgrace in paradise
and I wouldn’t blame you for setting your sights on rummaging
through the dark where there’s only my hand to hold

Pulled back by the currents that run through our souls
we have learnt not to trust any of fate’s brothers by now
Resisting temptation, embracing gentleness and fear
we were privileged and we knew it.
