OUTSIDE THE REALMS OF TIME

Tell me about all your heroes
Did they wear crowns and capes?
Did they ever come so close
And did they time their escapes?

Meet me outside the realms of time

Away from the vicissitudes of fame
Where the notions of hate rhyme
With each syllable of your name

Combine atrocities with chance

Name every bit that hurt your mind
Of everything stolen from that glance
Seeking a life so soft and kind

I am yet to meet the ghosts of yore

Those which tied me to this chain
And when you saw them before
Did you tell them about my pain?

Maybe they’re fearful, perhaps scared

Of going back to the inglorious past
Fate and sweat are now paired
With an ocean of tears so vast

Maybe I’ll ask you to stay

As I try to play the perfect host
Time is fleeting and slipping away
Is that what you’ll miss the most?
