Everybody knows that the world is crumbling,
But they are all attached to the string.
That they are all tied to with their egos bound,
But to help you, see, there’s now no one around.
They all know that the earth is on fire,
But no one’s willing to walk down the wire,
With no shoes or socks on their feet,
It’s scary that humanity is just two-feet deep.
Everybody knows when there’s someone in pain,
But by helping them, they have nothing to gain.
So they sit quietly and close their eyes,
Wishing it were easier to find a disguise.
We all know that the good men lost,
But nobody wants to see which line was crossed,
Between animosity, resentment and some sorrow,
Rather sleep well tonight and worry tomorrow.
Everybody knows, but sadly nobody cares
They are all just idly plying their wares.
Hostility brews, and abhorrence flies,
So tell me what is now the biggest prize?
I know compassion has lost and been surpassed,
And I know that benevolence is a thing of the past.
Tell me from when kindness became a forgotten trait,
And tell me from when you learned to hate.
Everybody knows when they have tears of their own,
But no one asks you if you have broken a bone.
Everybody knows but nobody looks at the other,
The earth still revolves but the world’s changed to another.
You knew you were wrong when you turned around
Seeing a man heavily burdened and his face frowned.
Don’t let the speed of life tear you apart,
It’s not too late now, why don’t you start?
