PAPER CLOUDS

Your steely heart and icy reserve
Play second fiddle to your excitable nerve
You always take on the world with no fear
Keeps you in stead when the storm is here.

They tell you every bend is a learning curve

To your steely heart and icy reserve
Pushing yourself for bringing out all you have
So that later you can have the last laugh.

Paper clouds push you day in and out

But they repel your forces when you try to shout
Your steely heart and icy reserve
Shout for the energy you try to conserve.

The constant battle of matter below mind

Leads to peace of soul which you seldom find
That voice that leads you back on path when you swerve
Is your steely heart and icy reserve.

Your steely heart and icy reserve

To your soul do they well serve
Pushing you when you’ve given all you’ve had
At the end of it all, it doesn’t seem so bad.

You learn even though all you do is observe

Your steely heart and icy reserve
When your soul struggles and heart gives way
You know that voice in your head is here to stay.

You have a bleeding nose and moist eyes

But you keep going as you look up to the skies
Your steely heart and icy reserve
Which paper clouds tell you to conserve.

You want to be the best, the best in the land

When paper clouds merely take your hand
And lead you towards the greatness you deserve
With your steely heart and icy reserve.
