You have reached new heights, touched another peak,
But as you enter the room you’re still tempted to speak,
You have lost that restraint you used to not appear weak,
And every chance of you having a life looks bleak.
You have lost that fire in your heart trying to become a man
And seeing the vultures hover over your head, you ran
Away from the world that spits blazes from its Jerry can,
The embers remain, but you’ve lost the audacity to say, “I can!”
You’re now too afraid to look, let alone see and that is sad,
What’s that path of virtue you used to talk about with your dad?
Men have come and men have gone in this pursuit you’ve had,
What’s changed is the way you’ve lost your sense of good and bad.
The world tried to change you by taking away the gift called ‘today,’
And all you’ve got is a misplaced sense of honour, you no longer pray
You have forgotten about all those non-existent tracks of yesterday,
And you have lost the courage you had to always make your way.
You’ve lost the will to walk away from beaten tracks that gave way,
The fire in your heart has been doused with logic and reason today,
Your conviction in faith and belief have long gone away,
And only God knows why you are now too scared to stray.
