HER DILEMMA

I knew a girl who used to shine bright,

Who fought against the tides of time,

As the sands of sorrow remained behind,

She danced to the tunes of her own rhyme.

Her mind travels to the lanes of love,

She battles but underneath the facade she’s hollow

The chains that bind her try to be torn apart,

The night seldom promises a better tomorrow.

But, she’s just like a maze wherein

All the walls continuously change, but she’s brave,

Every victory scarred her and every defeat taught,

While I went pleading for the love she never gave.

I know she’ll struggle to keep her voice afloat,

Looking at me being lowered into the freshly-dug grave.

A fistful of memories, a handful of laughter was all we shared,

I know she’ll wonder for whom her love she did save.

Her tears a symbol, her tone regretful, if only just

She’ll ponder whether it’s my memories that she will prize,

The soul has no freedom in a world

Where Nature such dilemmas could devise.
